Metrics Don't Get You Recruited
Feb 17, 2026
Something I see all the time online:
“All college coaches care about is metrics.”
Here’s the truth:
Metrics don’t get you recruited.
They qualify you.
If you throw 73 mph, it doesn’t matter how many strikes you throw or how many hitters you get out in high school.
At the college level, you will get hit.
Remember: Coaches’ livelihoods are on the line
Do you really think they’re risking their job on someone without the physical tools?
No.
Metrics exist to eliminate players who don’t fit a program’s baseline.
And with thousands of players, elimination is the first job.
If you want to get on a coach’s radar:
👉 Have the physical skill set first
👉 Then comes the hard part—putting it together in games.
If it were easy, everyone would be playing at a Power-4 school.
